Turbo by Faberge c1980

Turbo by Faberge: launched in 1980.

In August 1982, Faberge launched the Turbo fragrance line with a big-budget advertising and promotional program featuring a consumer sweepstakes with more than $130,000 in prizes. Included were two grand prize Datsun 280-ZX sportscars, motorcycles, personal computer systems, cameras, and audio systems. Sweepstakes entry forms were available at participating retail outlets. At the end of September, this brand was tied in with the highly publicized, nationally televised Caesars Palace Grand Prix in Las Vegas, Nevada, the last race in the 1982 international tour. During the televised coverage of this World Championship race, several Faberge Turbo commercials were shown and the pace car was a red and silver Datsun 280-ZX turbo sportscar bearing the Faberge logo. Both the sweepstakes and the race tie-in helped produce instant awareness of the Turbo brand name.

The Turbo line was first introduced in France in 1980. After a full year of satisfactory consumer acceptance and sales, the line was launched in the UK. In its second year there, it had been strongly supported by magazine and tv advertising and special sports-related promotions. In 1982, the Turbo brand logo was featured on the British racecar driven by Richard Noble in the Black Rock Desert meet in November, and on the Class 3 powerboat that won in its class the UKOBA Championships. Both events provided wide tv and press coverage for the brand.

During 1982, the Turbo fragrance was launched in the Netherlands, Antilles, Panama, Thailand and a number of other countries.
